Specialized Eye Examinations
Specialist referrals may require detailed testing. We offer:
Glaucoma Screening:
- Intraocular pressure
- Refraction
- Visual acuity
- Fundoscopy
- OCT of the optic nerve
- Visual field (perimetry)
- Pachymetry
- Gonioscopy
Eye Pressure:
Measured using tonometry. A soft air puff flattens the cornea. Normal range: 10–21 mmHg.
Fundoscopy:
Done with dilated pupils to evaluate the retina. Used pre-op and in patients with diabetes, hypertension, high myopia, etc.
OCT:
Visualizes retina layers, optic nerve, and macula. Detects structural and vascular changes.
Angio OCT:
Visualizes retinal blood vessels in high detail.
OCT of the Optic Nerve Head (ONH):
Detailed imaging of the optic nerve structure.
Refraction Exam:
Includes dilation and diopter measurement by an optometrist or ophthalmologist. Duration: ~2 hours.
Driver’s License Vision Exam:
Includes refraction, visual acuity, perimetry, color vision, and lens prescription check.
Dry Eye Assessment:
Includes Schirmer’s test, slit-lamp exam, osmolarity test, and break-up time test (BUT). Symptoms may include dryness, foreign body sensation, tearing, burning.
